Our Community Guidelines
Golex is built for makers, builders, and collaborators. These guidelines exist to keep this space productive, respectful, and safe for everyone — whether you're posting in a community, joining a project, or reaching out to someone new.
Introduction
Golex is a platform where builders, designers, developers, and creators come together to collaborate, share knowledge, find teammates, and grow. The quality of that experience depends entirely on how we treat each other.
These Community Guidelines set the standard for acceptable behaviour on Golex. They apply across every part of the platform — your profile, community posts, project spaces, work ads, direct messages, calls, and beyond. By using Golex, you agree to follow these guidelines at all times.
We reserve the right to update these guidelines at any time. When material changes are made, we will post an in-app notification. Continued use of Golex after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised guidelines.
Who This Applies To
These guidelines apply to every registered user of Golex, regardless of account type, Pro status, or seniority on the platform. They apply to all content and actions on Golex, including but not limited to:
- Profile information — your username, tagline, bio, avatar, and skills
- Community posts, replies, and upvotes
- Project listings, task content, and member interactions
- Work ad listings and job applications
- Direct messages, 1-on-1 calls, and sketch board activity
- Poll questions and responses
- Build log entries
- Any content submitted to or through Nova (our AI assistant)
Respectful Conduct
Golex thrives when members treat each other with honesty, patience, and respect — even when they disagree. We expect every user to uphold the following standards in all interactions.
Give feedback that helps people improve. Criticism is welcome; personal attacks are not. If you disagree with someone's approach or idea, challenge it thoughtfully rather than dismissing the person behind it.
Golex is a global platform. Treat every member with equal respect regardless of their background, nationality, gender, religion, skill level, or experience. Do not make assumptions about someone's ability based on who they are.
Harassment of any kind — repeated unwanted contact, personal insults, targeted intimidation, or coordinated pile-ons — is strictly prohibited. This includes behaviour in private messages, community posts, and project spaces alike.
Content that demeans, threatens, or dehumanises individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or national origin is not tolerated on Golex.
Prohibited Content
The following content is strictly prohibited anywhere on Golex. Posting or sharing any of it will result in immediate content removal and may lead to account suspension or permanent ban.
Content in the above categories results in immediate permanent removal of the account with no possibility of appeal, and will be reported to relevant authorities where legally required.
- Spam: Repetitive, unsolicited, or irrelevant posts, messages, or work ads designed to flood the platform or solicit users without their interest.
- Scams & fraud: Misrepresenting yourself, your skills, your project, or a work ad to deceive other users into providing services, money, or data.
- Impersonation: Creating a profile or posting as another real person — whether a user, public figure, or member of the Golex team — with the intent to deceive.
- Hate speech: Content that promotes hatred, contempt, or discrimination against any individual or group on the basis of a protected characteristic.
- Self-harm promotion: Content that glorifies, encourages, or provides instructions for self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders.
- Illegal content: Any content that facilitates or promotes illegal activity under applicable law, including piracy, unauthorised data collection, and drug trafficking.
- Explicit adult content: Sexually explicit material of any kind. Golex is not an adult content platform.
- Excessive profanity or graphic content: Content intended purely to shock, disgust, or upset others with no constructive purpose.
Communities
Communities are spaces for focused discussion, knowledge-sharing, and peer support around specific topics. They are one of the most visible parts of Golex, and the quality of posts and replies directly shapes the experience of every member.
- Stay on topic. Post in communities that are genuinely relevant to your content. Cross-posting the same content to multiple communities solely to maximise visibility is considered spam.
- Write clearly. Make an effort to write posts that are understandable. Vague or cryptic posts that exist only to bait responses are discouraged.
- No self-promotion spam. Sharing your own work or project is welcome in relevant communities, but doing it repeatedly without contributing anything else is spam.
- Cite your sources. When sharing information that originates elsewhere, credit the original source where possible.
- Reply to add genuine value — answer the question, provide a counterpoint, or share a relevant experience.
- Do not reply with only an emoji, a single word, or meaningless filler solely to gain visibility.
- Upvote content you genuinely find helpful. Coordinating with others to artificially upvote your own posts is a violation of these guidelines and the points system.
- The "Best Answer" mark is granted by the post author to the most helpful reply. Pressuring, incentivising, or threatening others to mark your reply as Best Answer is prohibited.
When you join a community, you may receive notifications for new posts, replies to your content, upvotes, and Best Answer marks. Do not create posts or reply purely to trigger notifications on other users' accounts as a form of harassment.
Projects & Collaboration
Projects are the core of what makes Golex a collaboration platform. Whether you're the owner of a project or joining someone else's, you carry responsibilities toward your teammates.
- Describe your project honestly. Do not misrepresent the scope, technology, compensation, or ownership structure of your project to attract collaborators.
- Respect every member's time. If you accept a join request, communicate expectations clearly and in good faith.
- Do not remove members arbitrarily or without cause after they have contributed significant work.
- Tasks assigned to members should be reasonable and within the agreed scope of the project.
- Only request to join projects you are genuinely interested in and qualified for. Sending mass join requests to boost your profile activity is considered spam.
- If you accept a role in a project, honour your commitment or communicate promptly if circumstances change.
- Do not steal or redistribute another team's work, code, designs, or intellectual property outside the agreed scope of the project.
Sketch boards are a collaborative drawing space available during calls. Use them constructively — for wireframes, diagrams, and brainstorming. Drawing offensive, harassing, or explicit content on a shared sketch board is a violation of these guidelines and will be treated as any other prohibited content violation.
Work Ads
Work ads allow users to post opportunities — freelance gigs, paid roles, volunteer positions, or project collaborations — and for others to apply. Because work ads involve real professional expectations, they are held to a higher standard of honesty.
- Be accurate. The title, role description, skills required, and number of available spots must reflect the genuine opportunity on offer.
- Disclose compensation. If the role involves payment, clearly state the compensation structure. If it is unpaid or voluntary, say so explicitly.
- Close ads promptly. Once all spots are filled or the opportunity no longer exists, close the ad. Leaving filled or expired ads open wastes applicants' time.
- Respond to applicants. Accept or decline applications in a reasonable timeframe. Leaving applicants in prolonged uncertainty is discourteous.
- No discriminatory listings. Work ads must not explicitly or implicitly discriminate against applicants on the basis of protected characteristics.
- Only apply to ads where you genuinely intend to take on the role if accepted.
- Do not apply to the same ad multiple times. Duplicate applications may be treated as spam.
- Represent your skills and experience honestly in your application. Misrepresentation discovered after acceptance may result in removal from the project and a guideline violation on your account.
Messaging & Calls
Direct messages and calls on Golex are intended for genuine, constructive communication between users. Being in a private channel does not exempt you from these guidelines — the same rules apply.
- No unsolicited bulk messaging. Sending the same message to many users at once — whether for promotion, recruitment, or any other purpose — is spam.
- No harassment in DMs. Repeatedly messaging someone who has not responded, sending threatening or abusive messages, or using DMs to intimidate someone is prohibited.
- Respect boundaries. If a user blocks you or asks you not to contact them, respect that immediately. Any attempt to circumvent a block — via a second account, a mutual connection, or any other method — is a serious violation.
- No illegal solicitation. Do not use private messages or calls to solicit illegal services, share malware or phishing links, or facilitate fraud.
- No recording without consent. If you record a call or screen-capture a conversation, you must have the explicit consent of all participants. Sharing such recordings without consent is prohibited.
Points & Leaderboard
The Golex points system recognises genuine contributions to the platform. Points are awarded for community activity, collaboration, and milestones. The leaderboard reflects who is making the most meaningful impact.
- No artificial inflation. Coordinating with other users to exchange upvotes, mutual follow-unfollow cycles, or any activity specifically designed to game the points system is prohibited.
- No multi-accounting. Creating additional accounts to award points to your primary account, or to circumvent a ban, is a serious violation and will result in the permanent removal of all associated accounts.
- No exploiting bugs. If you discover a bug that allows you to earn points in unintended ways, report it to support@axikora.me rather than exploiting it. Responsible disclosure is appreciated and rewarded.
Golex HQ monitors the leaderboard for unusual activity. Accounts found to be manipulating the points system will have their points adjusted or reset, and may be subject to further enforcement action.
Golex Pro
Golex Pro is a paid subscription that unlocks enhanced features including analytics, priority visibility, and a Pro badge displayed on your profile. Pro status does not grant any special immunity from these Community Guidelines.
- Pro members are held to the same — and in some respects higher — standards of conduct, as the Pro badge signals trustworthiness to other users.
- Using Pro features such as increased profile visibility or analytics to target, harass, or stalk other users is a violation of these guidelines and will result in immediate suspension of the Pro subscription with no refund.
- Attempting to obtain Pro status through payment fraud, chargebacks, or by exploiting security vulnerabilities will result in a permanent ban.
- If your account is banned while you hold an active Pro subscription, your subscription will be terminated and no refund will be issued.
Reporting Violations
If you encounter content or behaviour that you believe violates these guidelines, please report it. Reports help keep Golex safe and healthy for everyone.
| What to report | How |
|---|---|
| A community post or reply | Use the report option on the post. Select the most relevant reason and optionally add context. |
| A user profile | Visit the user's profile and use the report or block option from the profile menu. |
| A work ad | Use the report option on the ad listing. |
| A direct message | Block the sender from the conversation and use the report option. Your block list is private. |
| A project or task | Report via the project settings or contact us directly if the in-app option is insufficient. |
| Content requiring urgent attention | Email support@axikora.me directly for anything that poses immediate risk of harm. |
- All reports are reviewed by the Golex HQ team. We do not use automated-only moderation for high-severity reports.
- Reports are anonymous — the reported user will not be told who filed the report.
- We aim to review reports within 72 hours. Complex cases may take longer.
- You will receive a notification when your report has been resolved, though we cannot always share the specific action taken.
Enforcement
Golex HQ has full discretion in how violations of these guidelines are handled. Enforcement actions are calibrated to the severity of the violation, the history of the account, and the potential for harm to other users.
Golex HQ may skip lower tiers entirely for serious violations. Certain categories of prohibited content — particularly those involving minors or credible threats of violence — result in an immediate permanent ban with no intermediate steps.
In addition to the above, violations of the points and leaderboard rules may result in a points reset or adjustment. This is applied independently of other enforcement actions and is not subject to appeal.
Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was applied in error, you have the right to appeal. We take appeals seriously and review them independently from the initial decision.
- Content removal you believe was made in error
- A mute, suspension, or ban you believe was unjustified or disproportionate
- Permanent bans for absolutely prohibited content (Section 04 — categories marked "absolutely prohibited")
- Points adjustments resulting from leaderboard abuse
- Actions taken as a result of a court order or legal requirement
Email support@axikora.me with the subject line Appeal — [your username]. Include a clear explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect, and any relevant context or evidence. Appeals submitted through any other channel cannot be guaranteed a response.
